N: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Given its multifactorial nature, the need for a transdisciplinary team is recognized. This has generated an ongoing debate between Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (PASS) and physiotherapy regarding their qualifications to manage it. OBJECTIVE: To analyze beliefs about LBP and clinical decision-making, as well as their relationship, among physiotherapy and PASS students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted. Final-year physiotherapy and PASS students completed an online survey consisting of four sections: sociodemographic data, an acute LBP case, a chronic LBP case, and The Pain Attitudes and Beliefs Scale questionnaire, which assesses biomedical and biopsychosocial belief orientations through two subscales. RESULTS: 41 participants completed the survey. Most students were from physiotherapy (35/41) and were more frequently trained in pain management (62.9%) than PASS students (0%). Physiotherapy students showed a greater biopsychosocial approach and a lower biomedical approach compared to PASS students. They also identified the type of pain presented in the clinical cases more accurately (88.57%) and gave greater consideration to fear-avoidance behaviors. Nevertheless, most decisions regarding LBP management were similar between both groups. CONCLUSION: Physiotherapy students showed a greater biopsychosocial approach and more training in pain management, which was more aligned with clinical decision-making for LBP. While physiotherapy considered external factors related to LBP, PASS focused more on physical performance. However, overall clinical management was similar.es_ES
