| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Cerebral palsy is a chronic neurological disorder that limits autonomy and may affect emotional well-being and quality of life. Anxiety is common due to the physical, communicative, and social difficulties associated with this condition, making psychological support a necessary component of a comprehensive approach. Therefore, addressing anxiety is essential to prevent future complications. The aim of this study was to design an intervention to reduce anxiety symptoms and improve quality of life in an adult woman with cerebral palsy through a cognitive-behavioural intervention. Interviews and self-monitoring records were used as assessment tools, and standardized pretest and post-test questionnaires were administered to evaluate anxiety symptomatology and quality of life. The intervention was conducted over 19 weekly sessions and included psychoeducation; self-control techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing and relaxation; cognitive-behavioural techniques including cognitive restructuring, self-instructions, and behavioural activation; gradual imaginal exposure; and training in coping skills and problem-solving. Following the intervention, the results showed a notable improvement in symptoms across different anxiety-related measures, including state anxiety and trait anxiety, as well as in quality of life. This study presents a cognitive-behavioural intervention that may be useful for improving anxiety symptoms and quality of life in adults with cerebral palsy. | es_ES |
