| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction and Objectives: Alcohol consumption is a public health concern, particularly among young adults, whose initiation typically occurs around the age of 16.4 years. Difficulties in emotion regulation represent a key vulnerability, as they increase the likelihood of using alcohol as a coping strategy. The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of psychological interventions that enhance emotion regulation and reduce alcohol consumption in young people, identifying their mechanisms of action and level of recommendation. Method: A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines across PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Studies were included if they targeted young adults aged 18 to 30, implemented psychological interventions, and assessed both emotion regulation and alcohol consumption. After screening, seven studies were selected. Results: Motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and brief digital programs were found to improve emotion regulation and affective symptoms, although their impact on reducing alcohol use was limited and not sustained over time. Effectiveness largely depended on mediating factors such as self-efficacy, goal commitment, and the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Discussion: Interventions focused on emotion regulation, self-regulation, and selfefficacy offer a promising approach to addressing problematic drinking in young adults. Further research should expand sample diversity and compare in-person, digital, and hybrid formats with long-term follow-up. | es_ES |
