| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Positional plagiocephaly is an asymmetrical cranial deformity of mechanical origin that is common in infants; its prevalence has increased significantly since 1992 following the recommendation to place infants on their backs to prevent sudden infant death syndrome. Its physical therapy management includes various interventions, although there is no complete consensus regarding their effectiveness. Objectives: To analyze the effectiveness of pediatric physical therapy treatments for positional plagiocephaly, focusing on the infant’s cranial appearance and motor development. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted in the PubMed, PEDro, and Scopus databases, covering publications from 2010 to 2026. A total of 10 randomized clinical trials were selected. Methodological quality was assessed using the PEDro scale. Results: The included studies varied in terms of intervention type, measurement tools, and follow-up duration. The main treatment categories identified were: parental education and positioning guidelines, manual therapy, cranial remodeling orthoses, and passive positioning devices. Conclusions: Pediatric integrative manual therapy (PIMT) combined with standard treatment is the intervention with the strongest evidence for reducing cranial asymmetry. None of the interventions evaluated showed significant differences in long-term motor development. | es_ES |
