| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction Badminton is an overhead sport characterized by repetitive, high-intensity actions, associated with a high incidence of overuse shoulder injuries. Shoulder pain frequently affects elite players and can limit their athletic performance. Among the factors related to these injuries are GIRD, decreased ROM, external rotator strength deficits, and scapular alterations. It is essential to analyze these variables to determine whether they constitute injury risk factors or are functional adaptations derived from the specific demands of the discipline. Objective Evaluate stability and risk factors regarding strength and ROM in external and internal shoulder rotation in a sample of badminton athletes. Materials and methods A cross-sectional observational study was conducted with 15 badminton players. Active ROM, isometric strength and stability were assessed using ActivForce2 and the Upper Quarter Y-Balance Test. Results were compared according to pain and limb dominance, followed by correlation analysis. Results No significant differences were found between the dominant and non-dominant sides. Appreciable individual asymmetries in strength and internal rotation. Players with shoulder pain showed greater GIRD, indicating a clinically relevant trend. Conclusions Better values are observed in the non-dominant arm; GIRD showed associations with pain and is considered a risk factor, while external rotator strength does not stand out as a risk factor. The findings suggest that it is an asymmetric sport and, therefore, specific adaptations are generated in the glenohumeral complex. | es_ES |
