| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Lumbosacral radiculopathy (LSR) is a clinically relevant condition within low back pain, commonly associated with radiating pain, sensory, motor and/or reflex symptoms, and functional limitation. In this context, pain neuroscience education (PNE) could modify beliefs, reduce perceived threat responses and promote coping; however, its specific effectiveness has not been established. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of PNE in patients with LSR on low back pain, radiating pain and other clinical and psychosocial variables. Methods: A literature review with a structured search was conducted in PubMed, PEDro, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science and Cochrane Library up to May 2026. Randomised clinical trials in adults with LSR or lumbar radicular pain evaluating pain-related educational interventions were included. Methodological quality, risk of bias and certainty of evidence were assessed using PEDro, RoB 2 and GRADE, respectively. Results: Three randomised clinical trials were included. No consistent statistically significant differences were observed for low back pain or radiating pain. Some studies reported favourable results for disability, quality of life, kinesiophobia and catastrophising. The evidence presented methodological limitations, some concerns regarding risk of bias and very low certainty. Conclusions: The evidence is scarce and does not allow it to be concluded that PNE differentially reduces pain in people with LSR. However, it may be of interest for pain-related psychosocial variables. Further clinical trials with higher methodological quality, larger samples and greater homogeneity are required. | es_ES |
