The use of influencers as an advertising tool has gained prominence in recent years, especially during the pandemic, when companies and public authorities turned to them to disseminate information and counter misinformation. Their ability to connect with specific communities and build trust posi- tions them as key players in communication strategies. Brands choose them for their influence over specific segments, the way followers identify with their lifestyle, and the less intrusive nature of their messages. This impact is particularly noticeable among young people, millennials, and Gene- ration Z. At the same time, virtual influencers created using Artificial Intelligence have emerged, establishing themselves as an emerging strategy in digital advertising. This article analyzes the legal aspects of these practices, distinguishing between lawful and covert advertising, and incorporating a reference to cyber-influencers in the current market context.es_ES
