| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Childhood obesity is one of the main public health problems due to its high prevalence and the physical, psychological, and social consequences it may generate during both childhood and adulthood. It is associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and other non-communicable diseases. Its etiology is multifactorial, involving genetic, environmental, social, cultural, and economic factors related to the child’s environment and lifestyle habits. Current evidence suggests that school-based interventions focused on healthy eating and physical activity promotion may contribute to the prevention of childhood obesity; however, uncertainties remain regarding the long-term sustainability of their effects. This research project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured program of brief interventions on healthy eating and physical exercise implemented during the first cycle of Primary Education. A longitudinal and prospective cluster-randomized clinical trial is proposed in schoolchildren belonging to Health Area VIII of the Region of Murcia. The sample will consist of 372 participants distributed into a control group and an intervention group. The program will include six educational sessions related to healthy eating habits, physical activity, and self-care. Data collection will be carried out at the beginning of the study and at the end of Primary Education, at 11–12 years of age, through anthropometric measurements and validated questionnaires. Subsequently, a comparative statistical analysis will be performed to determine the effectiveness of the intervention in preventing childhood obesity and maintaining healthy habits in the long term. | es_ES |
