This visual essay presents a hybrid methodological approach mainly nourishing from participatory action research and arts-based research to make a dykezine. The making of this dykezine is an opportunity to implement other ways addressing traditionally silenced issues. Lesbians aged around fifty years or older make up a poorly accessible and unsatisfactorily represented group, wrapping them up in an in/visibility, sometimes forced and sometimes chosen as a mechanism for physical and emotional survival in lesbophobic contexts. This silence has political power, and at the same time it is also the result of the dynamics of a cisheteronormative system that leaves little room for other ways of being and doing. This dykezine has been designed in a workshop format, in which different artistic techniques are experimented with, as well as creative writing exercises and body movements. This opens the doors to sharing personal experiences and stories from a playful perspective tinged with humor. Results show that this hybrid methodological approach facilitates the treatment of complicated and/or negatively perceived topics. Furthermore, these twisted strategies foster group cohesion, thus developing a sense of belonging to the research process.
