De la máquina de escribir a ChatGPT en una vida laboral

Abstract

La tecnología ha cambiado de forma integral el modo de trabajar de los periodistas. El diario INFORMACIÓN, el más antiguo de la provincia de Alicante, ha vivido todos estos avances. Algunos de los empleados que hoy trabajan en el periódico han llegado a convivir con la máquina de escribir y viven hoy la introducción del uso de inteligencia artificial en algunas secciones de su empresa. Las últimas cuatro décadas han supuesto un proceso de adaptación constante a medida que las herramientas usadas cambiaban. Tanto la llegada de los ordenadores como de internet agilizó procesos pero tuvo consecuencias negativas, los primeros provocaron cierres de secciones y el segundo ha resultado en un aumento de la carga y el ritmo de trabajo. Tras vivir todo esto se enfrentan hoy a otro avance que trae consigo una gran incertidumbre, la IA. La herramienta tiene el potencial de facilitar el trabajo de los redactores pero también para reducir la plantilla. A pesar de esto, periodistas y expertos están de acuerdo en que no eliminará puestos de trabajo ya que los redactores pueden aportar una experiencia y contraste de la información que las IAs no tienen. Este TFG en modalidad reportaje busca contextualizar la llegada de la IA mostrando los efectos que trajeron para los trabajadores la llegada de otras tecnologías. En concreto los efectos del ordenador e internet. Además, busca conocer las opiniones que tienen los periodistas entrevistados sobre esta nueva herramienta.

Technology has fundamentally changed the working way of journalists. INFORMACIÓN, the oldest active newspaper of the province of Alicante, has lived through all the recent changes. Some workers still active today have used typewriters and are now seeing the introduction of AI tools in some departments of their company. Last four decades made them adjust to lots of changes as innovations appeared. The arrival of both computers and the internet streamlined processes but also brought negative consequences: the former led to the closure of some departments, while the latter resulted in an increased workload and faster pace. After experiencing these changes, journalists now face another development that brings uncertainty: AI. This tool has the potential to make their work easier but could also lead to staff reductions. Despite this, journalists and experts agree that AI will not bring firings, as reporters bring a level of experience and the ability to properly check information, which AIs lack. This Bachelor´s Degree Final Project, in the shape of a reportage, aims to contextualize the introduction of AI by examining the impact that previous technological advances, specifically computers and the internet, had on workers. Additionally, it seeks to showcase the opinions of the interviewed journalists about this new tool.
