The need for self-control mechanisms in the media as opposed to external control,
which could adversely affect the freedom of professionals poses alternatives as
audiovisual councils or ethical codes. But spanish media and public television in

politicized pro templates successive governments, information is selected through
internal censorship and has conditioned professionals defending their
constitutional right to Freedom of Expression. So the need to protect these public
companies should be as much a priority as defending other public services,
because without accurate and plural information there is no real democracy
