T In this article, the authors aim to show an example of the use of a DSS (Decision Support System) as a governmental tool to provide a comprehensive and dynamic overview of the challenges and opportunities in the field of social housing, and to support informed and compassionate decision-making. This paper introduces a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to analyse populations with high housing expenditures as a strategic tool for public policy making by identifying vulnerable populations, evaluating the effectiveness of current policies, and designing specific interventions. The KPI is calculated using data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) Household Living Conditions Survey for each of the autonomous administrative divisions in Spain.es_ES
