Introduction: Infectious diseases represent a significant health problem, being a frequent reason for consultation and hospital admission in Pediatrics. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the lockdown and other implemented public health measures, a decrease in admissions for this group of pathologies was observed. Objective: To evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the number of admissions for common infectious pathologies in pediatric patients at the San Juan de Alicante Hospital. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted, considering hospitalization data for any reason and for bronchiolitis, pneumonia, gastroenteritis, and urinary tract infection at the San Juan de Alicante Hospital from March 2017 to March 2023. This interval is divided into 6 periods, and the variables under study are period, diagnosis, age group, and sex. Results: The results demonstrate that during the first year since the start of the lockdown, there was a statistically significant decrease in admissions for bronchiolitis, pneumonia, and gastroenteritis, with no statistically significant changes for urinary tract infections. It is also observed that admissions for any reason decreased during this year. Admissions for pneumonia have increased post-pandemic, while those for gastroenteritis have decreased. Conclusions: Public health measures implemented to address the progress of the pandemic appear to be the main responsible for this decrease in admissions. During the first year since the start of the lockdown, when the strictest measures were implemented, this decrease occurred, and once they were lifted, the number of admissions increased again.
