ntroduction: Balance is a fundamental ability to control de movement and position of the body,so it is common to find alterations in it both primary and secondary, as well as physiologically. Physiotherapy proposes different strategies for training this function, including the use of devices with different degrees of complexity. Objetives: Analyze the characteristics of current devices for balance work, their advantages and disadvantages in order to define the necessary characteristics for the design of a prototype of a new device, through collaboration strategies between students and teachers of mechanical engineering and physhiotherapy. Methodology: 1) Literature searches, to extract information about current devices: characteristics, advantages and disadvantages; 2) Preparation of explanatory documents; 3) Conducting feedback meetings; 4) Definition of specifications for the creation of a device; 5) Interdisciplinary collaboration Results: Current balance treatment devices have problems such as high Price, por specifity, lack of versatility and difficulty in use. The designed device will be universal, versatile, affordable and easy to use. It will consist of a central oscillating platform, on which different accesories will be placed that will allow balance work in standing and sitting position in different kind of patients. Conclusions: This document provides information on the characteristics of current devices, their advantages and disadvantages, and the characteristics and components of a new device to work on balance and sitting and standing position.
