Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis is a joint disease characterized by the deterioration and wear of the cartilage tissue of the knee joint. Knee arthroplasty is currently one of the most effective and established interventions in the field of orthopedic surgery. The use of CPM and hydrotherapy has been suggested for postoperative TKA rehabilitation. Objectives: To know, through a review of the current scientific literature, the effects of hydrotherapy compared to continuous passive movement (CPM) therapy in recovery after total knee arthroplasty. Materials and methods: A review was carried out that includes articles from the PubMed, Scopus, PEDro and Cochrane databases. Experimental studies published in the last 10 years were selected. Articles that did not talk about TKA and that did not contain physiotherapy treatment using hydrotherapy or CPM interventions were excluded. Results: After conducting a review of the current scientific literature and applying the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, 14 articles were selected to be reviewed in depth. The 6 studies that talk about hydrotherapy and the 8 studies about CPM report that the use of hydrotherapy and CPM after TKA positively affects its recovery. Conclusions: After reviewing the articles, there is greater efficacy in hydrotherapy than in CPM with respect to treatment after knee arthroplasty.
