INTRODUCTION: Peritoneal carcinomatosis is a type of cancer with a high risk of complications. Addressing issues proactively by improving physical condition is crucial to reduce risks during and after treatment or surgery. Prehabilitation prior to surgery shows promising results in improving postoperative outcomes. The objective of this review was to identify prehabilitation programs that provide the greatest benefits to patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis. METHODOLOGY: A literature search of clinical trials published between 2014 and 2024 was conducted, focusing on the relationship between cancer and therapeutic exercise during prehabilitation. The databases searched included PubMed, Scopus, Embase, PEDro, ENfispo, and Cochrane, obtaining a total of 7 clinical trials after applying selection criteria. RESULTS: The most frequently described exercise programs during prehabilitation for patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis include breathing exercises, aerobic exercises, and muscle strengthening exercises. CONCLUSION: Physical exercise emerges as a crucial tool to improve functional capacity and quality of life both before and after surgery. Given the scarcity of available studies, further research is necessary in this field to validate and expand these findings.
