Digital sports, eSports, have created a new paradigm of communication in the world, and therefore in Spain, although they are still in full growth and therefore little by little they are being integrated into the mass media as if from any other traditional sport it was about. The birth of video game competitions has been completely linked to the Internet and the communicative and people-connecting qualities that it possesses, therefore, this has led to the fact that, as progress has been made in this scene, there have had room for eSports themselves to grow. The media have been adapting increasingly specific places to be able to talk about them in a much clearer, concise and informative way. At first, the information in this regard was vague and in small quantity, but, as the years have passed and especially with the boom they have had since the pandemic, a much more worked and polished communication growth has been seen, with news and quality interviews that have been creating a niche of people willing to even invest, not only their time, but also their money in channels, platforms, magazines or even creators completely dedicated to cyber sports. The arrival of figures like Ibai Llanos into this world has generated exponential growth, helped by the most relevant company in terms of competitions, which is the LVP. They have brought digital sports into the homes of many Spaniards as if they were any other sports entertainment. But with the quality that the followers themselves can actively participate in the broadcasts. eSports journalism is divided into two very defined sections, the specialists dedicated to a specific group that mostly consumes this type of information and the mass media that only transmit what is most relevant and newsworthy, focused mainly on the most relevant communicative actors. In this work, the growth of eSports within the Spanish journalistic world will be approached analysing the work of journalists from the different media that cover them and seeing the specialty they have in them. In addition to taking into account the high points that have made this sector so relevant today.
