Introduction: The development of motor skills in children is a complex process that is
influenced by several factors, including the intervention of adults through helping
elements and games.
There are several theories that defend opposing positions regarding the intervention of
adults in the neuromuscular development of children. This study focuses on
determining whether such intervention with elements of play and help has an impact on
children's neuromuscular development.
Objective: To determine whether adult intervention through elements of play and help
has an impact on neuromuscular development in childhood.
Methodology: During one year, a research was carried out in two upper-middle-class
public schools in Alicante, in which podiatric examinations were carried out on 649
children between 3 and 14 years old. Authorization was obtained from the centers and
consent from the mothers and fathers to carry out the study. The methodology was
previously presented to the directors of the centres.
Results: The results obtained through surveys show that there is no relationship
between the use of crib playpen and tacatá with different developmental variables in
children, such as crawling, frequent falls, gait alterations, among others. In addition, a
significant relationship was found between crawling and visiting the podiatrist.
These findings suggest the importance of considering the type of intervention and the
elements used in children's motor development.
