Being a mother or “motherhood” is defined as the state of a woman who manages to
have children, also including the duration of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
This not only encompasses physical or physiological aspects, but also social, emotional and
cultural aspects. There is an alteration in the personal role of women, both at the level of
occupations and lifestyles, so all these transformations affect the occupational balance of
women.
The main objective of this program is to improve her quality of life and prevent
possible complications related to motherhood in pregnant women. To this end, an
intervention has been designed in which a total of 30 pregnant women will participate. Its
duration will be 9 weeks, with seven group intervention sessions from occupational therapy,
which will address activities that promote autonomy and well-being, strengthening the
mother-child bond and detecting problems associated with the child's development, thus
allowing an early intervention.
Before carrying out this intervention, an evaluation will be carried out on each of the
participants, at the end it will be carried out again to find out if there have been changes and
the proposed objectives have been met, and finally another evaluation will be carried out.
once the woman has given birth and the baby is 1 month old with the aim of knowing if the
changes are maintained over time.
