This research project is a multidisciplinary study of Moroccan culture, concentrating on the delicate interplay of craftsmanship, design, and art. By diving into its historical context and investigating the intricate relationships between diverse cultural elements, this study seeks to provide a thorough understanding of Moroccan cultural identity. Focusing on Amazigh, Arab, and colonial influences, the project aims to create a series of photography and engravings that portray the complex fabric of Moroccan culture. These artworks honor Morocco’s artisanal legacy while also exploring modern representations of Moroccan identity. The goal is to shed light on how historical influences have shaped modern artistic expression in Morocco. By emphasizing the interconnectivity of craftsmanship, design, and art, the project hopes to uncover the underlying themes and narratives that define Moroccan cultural identity. Additionally, it aims to address and clarify common misunderstandings held by outsiders, highlighting that the Amazigh are one of the main cultural groups in Morocco, thus challenging the oversimplified view that Morocco is solely an Arab country. More than just an appreciation of Moroccan culture, this project is a proactive program aimed at fostering positive change. It seeks to promote greater appreciation for Moroccan art, design, and craftsmanship, ensuring the survival of these cultural traditions in the modern world. In conclusion, this project investigates Moroccan culture by exploring its historical roots and present manifestations. Through a series of photography and engravings, it showcases the richness and diversity of Moroccan cultural identity, encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of its artistic legacy.
