Introduction. Job stress and mental workload are concepts that have been emerging over the years, as it has been gaining importance, and it is therefore. The general objective of this study is to assess job stress in teachers, a field that suffers a great deal of work pressure, with long working hours and heavy workload, pressure from parents and pupils. Objective. To assess work-related stress and to analyse the causes and consequences of mental workload in the teaching field at different academic levels. Patients and methods. A systematic review was carried out under the guidelines of the PRISMA method of the articles found in different databases, such as PubMed, Science Direct and Google Scholar, including a total of 13 articles. Results. After an analysis of the different articles and with a varied sample of teachers analysed, it is shown that the main sources of stress have a worse mental health related to emotional exhaustion and that it can have repercussions with feelings of frustration and physical and mental tiredness. It also shows that sport helps to alleviate this mental burden. And that the most affected groups are between 40 and 59 years of age. Conclusion. There are several psychosocial risk factors suffered by this group, which varies according to the level of education. Moderate exercise is highlighted as beneficial to alleviate the stress suffered and, likewise, different lines of research are proposed to mitigate the mental burden.
