La urgente y necesaria construcción y desarrollo de una política europea de inmigración para la integración de la población inmigrante

Abstract

La diversidad es y siempre será un elemento representativo de las sociedades eu ropeas. De hecho, en la Unión Europea (UE) residen actualmente 20 millones de nacionales extranjeros que constituyen el 4 % de la población total. La movilidad humana, en mayor o menor grado y por razones diversas, es una característica inherente del siglo xxi tanto en Europa como en el resto del mundo; esto significa que la UE no solo necesita redoblar sus esfuerzos por cuanto atañe a la gestión de los flujos migratorios, sino también en lo que se refiere a sus políticas de integración aplicables a los nacionales de terceros países. La UE y sus Estados miembros están reforzando su empeño por establecer una política europea de migración eficaz, humanitaria y segura

Diversity is and always will be a representative element of European societies. Indeed, the European Union (EU) is currently home to 20 million foreign nationals, represen ting 4% of the total population. Human mobility, to a greater or lesser extent and for different reasons, is an inherent feature of the 21st century both in Europe and in the rest of the world; this means that the EU needs to step up its efforts not only in terms of managing migration flows, but also in terms of its integration policies towards third country nationals. The EU and its Member States are strengthening their efforts to establish an effective, humane and safe European migration policy.
