INTRODUCTION: Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of morbidity and mortality. It is a disease caused by the abnormal proliferation of cells that multiply uncontrollably and invade nearby and distant tissues and organs. Patients have to cope with the immune, metabolic and endocrine stress caused by the disease and the therapies they received. Through a therapeutic exercise plan, it is sought that they can prevent, improve, correct or restore alterations and risk factors related to health. GOALS: The general aim of the work was to analyze the benefits of therapeutic exercise in people with cancer. The more specific aims were to find out which variables have an influence on the benefits of exercise and what type of exercise is most appropriate. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A bibliographic search was conducted for clinical trials, published between 2010 and 2023, that associated cancer with therapeutic exercise, using the PubMed, Scopus and ScienceDirect databases. A total of 24 articles were retrieved after applying the selection criteria. KEYWORDS: “exercise therapy”, “cancer”, “physical therapy”. CONCLUSION: Therapeutic exercise provides cancer patients with benefits in quality of life, physical and mental health, and functionality, accompanied by a reduction in fatigue and improvements in cardio-respiratory function. At the immunological level, it improves functions related to cell death processes and tumor proliferation. The combination of aerobic and resistance training at all stages of the disease process, helps to optimize the health status of these patients.
