Introduction. Inguinal injuries are a common concern among football players and represent one of the primary lower limb injuries. While specific prevention programs have been developed, their results are not yet significant. Understanding the potential benefits and key aspects of these programs is important to enhance player adherence and improve outcomes. Objectives. To explore the potential benefits of inguinal injury prevention in male football players through a review of scientific literature. Methodology. A literature search was conducted in Pubmed, Scopus, and Cochrane databases to identify studies published since 2010 that examined the benefits of inguinal injury prevention programs in football players. Results. Inguinal injury prevention programs incorporating the Copenhagen adduction exercise and player monitoring have shown reduced injury incidence and improved muscular strength. Conclusions. Inguinal injuries are common and concerning among football players. Prevention programs, including the aforementioned aspects, have demonstrated promising results. However, further research is needed to establish their effectiveness conclusively.
