Suicide has become an increasing health problem. In 2019, it was the fourth leading cause of
death in young people between 15 and 29 years old. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review
has been to collect programs for the prevention of suicide and non-suicide self-harm in
adolescents, to recognize the variables involved in suicide and non-suicidal self-injury prevention.
To this end, the review of the literature was carried out in the Web of Science database on
February 28, 2023. Following the PRISMA method, 249 articles were reviewed and finally 19 were
selected for their analysis. After their examination, it can be claimed that they are important for
the development of future programs containing an educational part in which information is given
about suicide, non-suicidal self-injuries, and mental health issues, as well as their signs and how
to ask for help. Furthermore, it should also be included a practical part in which stress
management, problem solving, communication and self-esteem strategies are taught, as well as
a screening part in which ideation, planning and suicide attempts are measured.
