Ever since the beginning of this century, Yucatan has been enduring the most acute consequences of climate imbalance, while globalization has been generating more and more competition and a dependency of beekeepers on the international market. The aim of this work is to assess the current socio-environmental problems faced by beekeepers in honey production and their impacts on beekeeping among the communities in Yucatan. From October 2019 to March 2020, 102 questionnaires and 8 free interviews were made with beekeepers from 8 communities of this State. It was concluded that most of the beekeepers have very few knowledge about technical management, with an average of 49 hives which does not allow them to generate enough income to sustain their families. Marketing is carried out mainly for export, through collection centers and other middlemen, where a very low initial sale price is applied. In addition, environmental factors such as severe droughts, heavy rainfalls during flowering, hurricanes and deforestation have caused the loss of some very typical plants species for the beekeeping in this region. Such results show the importance of not only protecting traditional beekeeping but also of supporting beekeepers in their efforts to improve their activity
