The rise of technology coupled with the ability to share information around the world immediately and the COVID-19 pandemic, where online shopping consumption increased, has given rise to a new business model. The resale of trainers has been going on for several years, but the ease of sharing information immediately through viral videos on the internet has helped to expand the business. Through viral images or videos shared by influencers or celebrities, the need to "want to be" or "have the same" as them arises. Along with this need, there are collaborations between big brands and influential personalities in society (e.g. Travis Scott-Michael Jordan-Nike). Big brands such as Nike, Adidas or New Balance have the capacity to create an infinite number of products necessary to satisfy their consumers, but they don't do it. They don't do it because one of their main objectives is to promote and valorise certain products in order to generate a need, dependence and purpose in the consumer to get something they couldn't. In turn, this way of launching products is a way to satisfy the consumer's needs. In turn, this way of releasing limited quantities to the public ends up generating value in the secondary market. Many people, mostly fans of the person who is collaborating with the brand, are willing to pay a higher value for that pair of limited trainers. Hence a new business model emerges. Getting a limited pair guarantees a profit margin on the purchase value. The trainer market is also comparable to the stock market; values fluctuate over time and are directly related to supply-demand.
