Health workers are exposed to some type of occupational risk, these being safety risks, hygiene risks (biological, chemical, physical agents) and risks that have their psychosocial origin. It is the latter that are most likely to suffer from health personnel, but they are also the least recognized and treated, having a high degree of detrimental effects on the health and safety of personnel. First, the type of pathologies that encompasses psychosocial risks in health personnel are analyzed and briefly explained, carrying out a brief bibliographic search and the labor regulations that today are focusing on the protection of mental health. Next, an applied risk assessment study is carried out that aims to identify and prevent the pathologies that psychosocial risks can lead to in the staff of an emergency unit, one of the areas that are in the first line of assistance in health centers and that are more susceptible to suffer them. The evaluation was carried out by means of two questionnaires that were self- completed maintaining the anonymity of the staff: the MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory) to determine the presence of signs of Burnout and the FPSICO method to evaluate the exposure of psychosocial factors. The response rate was 100% of the service staff (21 nurses, 7 administrative staff, 11 doctors and 11 nursing assistants), mostly women (62% versus 38% of men), with a mean age of 38 years (range 23 to 55 years) with the majority age group being between 41 and 50 years (36% of the sample). In the FPSICO assessment method, the most unfavorable dimensions were workload (52%), psychological demand (56%), participation/supervision (86%) and role performance (52%). In the MBI questionnaire we found high levels in the subscales of emotional exhaustion (46%) and Depersonalization (58%) and low levels in Personal Fulfillment (38%). As a result, 60% showed signs of moderate or high burnout. The jobs most affected were nursing, administrative and nursing assistants.
