Encuesta de victimización sobre delitos de odio en el colectivo LGTBI

Abstract

Los delitos de odio por motivo de orientación sexual e identidad de género producen grandes daños en las víctimas y en el colectivo LGTBI. El objetivo del estudio fue ampliar el conocimiento sobre los delitos de odio en las personas LGTBI mayores de 18 años y residentes en España. Los objetivos específicos fueron conocer la prevalencia de las discriminaciones por razón de orientación sexual e identidad género, examinar el número de delitos denunciados y los motivos de no denuncia, las características generales del delito, el perfil del agresor y el miedo al delito antes y desde que comenzó de la pandemia. Para ello, se llevó a cabo una encuesta de victimización online a nivel nacional al colectivo LGTBI mayor de dieciocho años. La muestra estuvo conformada por un total de 68 personas identificadas como LGTBI (N = 68). Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de los datos y análisis bivariantes con el propósito de detectar posibles relaciones entre variables. El 47% de los encuestados sufrió al menos una discriminación a lo largo de su vida y ninguno denunció la última discriminación a las autoridades. La mayoría de las discriminaciones se produjeron en la vía pública y en los lugares de ocio, los agresores fueron hombres y en la mitad de los casos fueron desconocidos por el encuestado. Se encontraron diferencias según el género del encuestado. El miedo a ser víctima de un delito de odio anti-LGTBI desde el comienzo de la pandemia estuvo asociado a haber sufrido alguna discriminación durante el mismo periodo. Asimismo, se presentaron las limitaciones del estudio y algunas propuestas de futuro.

Hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity cause great harm to the victims and to the LGTBI community. The aim of this project was to investigate about hate crimes among LGTBI persons over 18 years and resident in Spain. The specific objectives were to know the prevalence of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, to examine the number of crimes reported and the reasons for non-reporting, the general characteristics of the crime, the offender’s profile and the fear of crime before and since the beginning of the pandemic. To this end, a nationwide online victimization survey was conducted among the LGTBI community over the age of eighteen. The sample consisted of a total of 68 people identified as LGTBI (N = 68). A descriptive analysis of the data and bivariate analysis were performed in order to detect possible relationships between variables. The 47% of respondents experienced at least one discrimination in their lifetime and none reported the last discrimination to the authorities. Most of the discrimination occurred on public roads and in places of leisure, the offenders were men and in half of the cases they were unknown to the respondent. Differences were found according to the gender of the respondent. The fear of being a victim of an anti-LGTBI hate crime since the beginning of the pandemic was associated with having suffered discrimination during the same period. The limitations of the study and some proposals for the future were also presented.
