Chronic pain is defined by pain with a persistence of more than three months of evolution, with a prevalence of 20% in the general population. These patients have a higher risk of presenting other types of pathologies, producing a worse quality of life. There is evidence of the benefit of physical activity or exercise to improve health outcomes in these patients. Our objective was to evaluate in the literature the effects of activity or physical exercise in patients with chronic pain compared to control patients without activity. For this, we carried out a review of the literature in search of clinical trials through different databases. The results found show that exercise produces effects in reducing pain intensity, increasing pressure pain thresholds, decreasing perceived disability and frailty, among others. We conclude that physical exercise generates benefits and improves health outcomes in patients suffering from chronic pain. Due to the low evidence found in the studies, more studies are needed to analyse the efficacy of physical exercise in patients with chronic pain.
