Revisión de los factores influyentes en la adaptación al rol y la calidad de vida de los cuidadores de personas dependientes

Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: La cronificación de las enfermedades está contribuyendo a que la necesidad de cuidado de las personas mayores y/o con alguna enfermedad crónica esté cada vez más presente y sea más persistente en el tiempo. Por ello, es necesario preparar adecuadamente a los cuidadores, de modo que se garantice una adecuada adaptación al cuidado y una calidad de vida óptima. OBJETIVO: Realizar una revisión de la literatura científica existente acerca de los factores que influyen en la adaptación de los cuidadores de personas dependientes a ese rol y en su calidad de vida. RESULTADOS: Se han hallado 631artículos en Scielo y Web of Science, de los cuales se han incluido 34 estudios. Se han conseguido identificar un total de 10 factores con influencia significativa en la adaptación y calidad de vida de los cuidadores. CONCLUSIONES: La preparación de los cuidadores, aportando información y acompañamiento, así como la facilitación de la satisfacción de sus necesidades, son claves para lograr la adaptación y calidad de vida adecuadas.

INTRODUCTION: The chronification of the diseases is contributing the need of taking care of those elderly or suffering a chronic disease to become more and more present and persistent in time. Thus, it is necessary to prepare caregivers properly, so that appropriate adaptation to caregiving and quality of life are guaranteed. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to make a review on the scientific literature about the influential factors on adaptation and quality of life of caregivers. RESULTS: 631 articles were found on Scielo and Web of Science, from which 34 studies were finally included. 10 factors with significant influence on adaptation to the role and quality of life of caregivers have been identified. CONCLUSIONS: The preparation of the caregivers, giving them information and accompaniment, as well as the facilitation of the satisfaction of their needs, are the key to approach the proper adaptation and quality of life.
