Objetive
To know the refraction changes in operated myopic patients with a intraocular phakic lens (ICL), due to Covid home confinement.
Materials and methods
An analytical, observational, retrospective study with 2285 right eyes of patients aged 20 to 45 years. They were operated 2 years before the date of refraction at least. The refraction was between -6.00 and -12.00 diopters (D) before surgery.
Divided into two groups, were selected, the first group, 1235 patients, refracted from March 2019 to March 2020, and the second group, 1049 patients, refracted from March 2020 to March 2021. An ophthalmological and optometric examination was performed, removing out patients with pathology, amblyopia or anisometropia bigger than 3 D. The refraction was done with cyclopegic in all cases (cyclopentolate hydrochloride 1.0%).
The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS® statistical package. Results
Astigmatic vector decomposition (M0, J0, J45) was made to a correct refraction evaluation.
The first group, refractions March 2019 to March 2020, obtained refractive values of M0: -0.40 ±0.8 D, J0: -0.02 ±0.27 D, J45: +0.003 ±0.21 D. The second group, refractions done March 2020 to March 2021, M0: -0.38 ±0.75 D, J0: -0.02 ±0.26 D, J45: -0.003 ±0.23 D. Conclusions
In this study, the cycloplegic refraction values remained stable in both groups and for all values, M0, J0 and J45.
