Centros educativos ilicitanos: 20 años de crisis provisionales

Abstract

La ciudad de Elche cuenta con 77 centros de educación públicos entre guarderías, colegios e institutos, el 21% de los cuales necesita una intervención infraestructural urgente. Además, la mayoría de ellos la lleva esperando una media de 10 años. Hace tres años, Elche se adhirió al Plan Edificant, un proyecto lanzado desde Conselleria de Educación para trasladar a los ayuntamiento la responsabilidad de escoger los centros que necesitan una actuación. Una vez aprobados, Conselleria los financiará. Actualmente se han incorporado 11 centros, a la espera de la autorización de dos más. Por otra parte, la Conselleria de Educación está a cargo de las obras del colegio de La Paz, el instituto de Torrellano y el nº 11. El objetivo principal de las intervenciones en Elche era terminar con los barracones que 6 centros están utilizando incluso durante más de 20 años. Además, se arrastran otros problemas como la presencia de amianto en paredes y tejados de algunos edificios. La larga espera de todas estas intervenciones han provocado múltiples manifestaciones en la comunidad educativa. En dos años la mayoría de estas obras estarán concluidas si no hay más retrasos.

The city of Elche has 77 public educational centres counting nurseries, primary schools and high schools. 21% of these institutions need an urgent infrastructural intervention, which most of them have been waiting for 10 years in average. Three years ago, Elche joined the project Plan Edificant. This project was launched by Conselleria de Educación and it aimed to transfer to city councils the responsibility of selecting the centres with higher priority for action to be taken. Once the renovation plans have been approved, Conselleria will finance them. At present, 11 centres have been incorporated and two more are awaiting the authorisation. Besides that, the rebuilding works at La Paz primary school and Torrellano and nº 11 high schools are entirely under control of Conselleria. The main purpose of the refurbishments in Elche is to put and end to the use of barracks, which 6 of the educational establishments have been using for over 20 years in some cases. There are also other issues that need to be addressed, such as the presence of asbestos on the walls and roofs. The long wait for these interventions has produced multiple protest marches within the educational community. Over the course of two years, the majority of these works will be completed assuming there will be no more delays.
