El meu iaio, Desiderio Pascual Bou, una vida plena de 99 anys (1921-2020)

Abstract

Mi abuelo, Desiderio Pascual Bou, ha sido una persona que ha vivido 99 años, y, por lo tanto, ha presenciado muchos acontecimientos importantes del siglo XX al territorio alteano, como, por ejemplo: el régimen de Alfonso XIII, La República, la Guerra Civil, el franquismo, la transición e incluso la deseada democracia. Además, vivió el cambio económico y social del pueblo alicantino de Altea, una villa de la Marina Baixa que transformó su fuente económica principal de agricultores y pesqueros de autoconsumo a un municipio turístico. El objetivo del reportaje era plasmar la evolución de la sociedad a través de las vivencias de mi abuelo. Desgraciadamente, Desiderio murió el pasado 30 de abril, entonces, el trabajo se convirtió en un relato periodístico utilizando la técnica de la literatura para narrar cómo un nieto y su abuelo conversaban sobre el siglo XX y su evolución, y, finalizando la pieza explicando el sufrimiento de una familia por no poder despedir a un ser querido correctamente debido a la crisis sanitaria de la Covid-19.

My grandfather, Desiderio Pascual Bou, has been a person who has lived 99 years, and, therefore, has witnessed many important events of the 20th century in Altea territory, such as, for example: the regime of Alfonso XIII, The Republic, the Spanish Civil War, Francoism, the transition and even the desired democracy. In addition, he experienced the economic and social change of the Alicante town of Altea, a town in the Marina Baixa that transformed its main economic source of self-consumption farmers and fishing boats into a tourist town. The aim of the report was to capture the evolution of society through my grandfather's experiences. Unfortunately, Desiderio died on April 30, then, the work became a journalistic story using the technique of literature to narrate how a grandson and his grandfather talked about the 20th century and its evolution, and, ending the piece explaining the suffering of a family for not being able to fire a loved one correctly due to the Covid-19 health crisis.
