This work is about the evaluation, from an ergonomic point of view, of the monitoring
workstation of the polygraphy room at the Hemodynamics Unit in a hospital.
The prevention of ergonomic risks for workers whose job development takes place in the
care of others, is essential to maintain the service required and demanded by society.
The constant attention demanded of the professionals in charge of the monitoring room can
contribute to high levels of pressure, that is because the correct and measured ergonomic
evaluation of the room will undoubtedly contribute to reduce the prevalence and incidence of
disorders.
First, using the corresponding tools, it has been evaluated whether or not the staff of the
position in question meets the requirements to be considered as user of a job with data
display screens.
Once verified, an analysis has been carried out of the possible ergonomic risks that the
workers of this unit could be exposed in the development of their work activity, following the
guidelines of the Technical Guide for jobs with Visualization Screens Data, from the National
Institute of Safety and Hygiene at Work. The results of this evaluation have been reinforced
by complementing them with another evaluation of some environmental factors in the
workstation room about this paper.
According to the results, it has been possible to conclude that the most frequent deficiencies
are those related to thermal and acoustic comfort, in addition to the work chair.
Consequently, some recommendations have been made that should be taken into account
when planning future preventive actions, both for these and for other deficiencies detected
less frequently.
