Introduction. Inflammatory Bowel Disease is a chronic pathology of the digestive system that causes outbreaks of inflammation. Its main clinical manifestations are Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Its etiology is unknown, but the influence of immunological, genetic, environmental and psychological factors is observed, the latter being of great importance. Objective. Evaluate, from a gender perspective, the possible emotional impact of the COVID-19 situation in patients with IBD, and if this has influenced the perception of the symptoms of the disease. Methodology. A descriptive, observational and cross-sectional pilot study has been carried out. The sample consisted of 50 patients diagnosed in various hospitals. They were evaluated by means of a semi-structured interview created "ad hoc" for sociodemographic and clinical variables; the SCCAI and the modified Harvey-Bradshaw Index, to evaluate the activity of the CU and EC, respectively; and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD). Results. Although they were not statistically significant, high levels were found in the variables anxiety and depression, with greater anxiety in UC and greater depression in CD, and both to a greater extent in women than in men. In 92% of the cases, they have experienced psychological distress. A significant relationship has been found between depression and disease activity. 86% of the patients did not have active disease. Conclusions. The COVID-19 situation has caused an emotional impact on IBD patients, with a significant relationship between IBD activity and depression.
