This final Degree Project presents the design procces and manufacturing of splints through 3D printing for forearm inmobilitazion.
The splint modeling will be done by parameterization, being one of its mains characteristics,, fulfilling with the porporsed objecive theat it can suit to every individual. For they, it will be collected a series of forearm measurements of a patient, to introduce them to various programs (Excel and Autodesk Inventor), that will make posible the perfect fit of the splint to the patient.
This Project begins with the introduction and contextualitation of the state of the técnique. In this manner, there are presented the following questions: historic notions about the members inmmobilization for their recovery, ideas and collected knowledge.
For the proper performance of this task, its been taken the advice of experts in the field. The complete process of obtaining a customized, functional and tested 3D printed splint will be exposed in detail.
The final and main objective of this project consists in developing an accessible inmobilization tecnique thanks to parameterization, later mentioned, that will provide imminent improvements in comparassion to traditional casts: benefits like wight reduction, ventilation, comfort, simple fit and even lower costs over other solutions offered by orthopedics.
