Introduction: stroke is one of the most frequent causes of acquired brain damage that has resulted
in multiple motor, cognitive, functional and emotional alterations. Nowadays, new techniques
based on the use of different technological devices arise in the rehabilitation of the affected upper
limb, to complement the rehabilitation effectively.
Objective: to compare the results obtained after upper extremity treatment with the use of new
technologies in 2D and 3D, and to identify the differences in the increasing of joint range, muscle
strength, sensitivity and pain before and after the intervention.
Material and methods: a descriptive study comparing two clinical cases of patients that have
suffered a stroke in La Pedrera Hospital in Denia. Sessions are conduced using an arm robot and
virtual reality combined with complementary therapies based on contemporary approaches of
motor control.
Results: both patients achieved improvement in joint range and epicritic and protopathic
sensitivity. However, only the patient who received therapy based on virtual reality increased
muscle strength in two points.
Conclusion: according to the comparison carried out, there has been sensory-motor improvement
of the affected upper limb in both patients,
although there are only statistically significant differences in sensitivity in the patient who has
used 3D technology in their process of rehabilitation
