Introduction: acquired brain damage is an injury caused by a traumatic brain injury, stroke, anoxia or hypoxia, brain tumors or infections that can cause a series of physical, sensory, cognitive and affective or emotional sequelae.
Objective: to know the most recent scientific evidence about the alteration of the executive functions in acquired brain damage population.
Material and method: bibliographic review whose bibliographic search was performed on the Pubmed database, using the terms "executive dysfunction" in "tittle" and "brain damage" in "all fields" combined with the boolean operator AND, applying a series of inclusion criteria and exclusion.
Results: a total of 27 articles have been revised, and it has been classified according to the age of the studied population and according to the injury´s location. Have been revised in adult population, with the injury located in the front area, 3 studies, 1 with the injury in the occipital area, and 16 where the injury is no located, in children and teenager population, have been revised 7 studies where the injury´s zones is not located either.
Conclusion: once we have done the bibliographic review, it is manifested the recent scientific evidence of existence about the alteration of executive functions in patients with acquired brain damage.
