Evolución tecnológica del Teatro Principal de la ciudad de Alicante desde sus inicios hasta finales del siglo XX

Abstract

La ciudad de Alicante a lo largo de su historia ha experimentado una gran cantidad de variaciones en el ámbito cultural, y un elemento representativo de estas ha sido el Teatro Principal, que desde su creación a mediados del siglo XIX ha supuesto para la ciudad de Alicante un emblema cultural y social. La investigación realizada se centra en el carácter técnico, tecnológico y escenográfico del Teatro Principal, haciendo un recorrido por su desarrollo, contextualizándolo en la situación social, política, o el momento histórico que se estaba sucediendo. Se analizan las circunstancias, eventos o sucesos concretos en que se han introducido cambios en el Teatro, o en que un factor externo ha supuesto que se modifique la actividad de este. El Teatro Principal convive y se adapta a las innovaciones que surgen en la ciudad, a los cambios económicos y a las dificultades externas que suceden en la sociedad. Tras el estudio de un recorrido que abarca 153 años, observamos la gran cantidad de momentos álgidos y de decadencia que ha vivido el Principal, y cómo continúa siendo una figura relevante en la cultura alicantina. Esta investigación nos ayudará a conocer la forma de reinventarse del teatro, y los eventos, personas y situaciones que han sido claves en su desarrollo tecnológico y técnico, y nos ayuda a comprender su desarrollo a lo largo de los años

The city of Alicante throughout its history has experienced many variations in the cultural sphere, and a representative element of these has been the Principal Theater, which since its creation in the mid-19th century has meant for the city of Alicante a cultural and social emblem. The research carried out focuses on the technical, technological and scenography nature of the Principal Theater, making a journey through its development, contextualizing it in the social, political situation, or the historical moment that was happening. The circumstances, events or specific events in which changes have been introduced in the Theater, or in which an external factor has meant that its activity is modified, are analyzed. The Principal Theater coexists and adapts to the innovations that arise in the city, to the economic changes and to the external difficulties that occur in society. After studying a journey that spans 153 years, we observe the large number of high points and decadence that the Principal has experienced, and how he continues to be a relevant figure in Alicante culture. This research will help us to know how to reinvent the theater, and the events, people and situations that have been key in its technological and technical development and helps us to understand its development over the years
