Abstract

Esta investigación abarca el periodo comprendido entre 1936 y 1945: la Guerra Civil y la posguerra. La singularidad que caracteriza a esta ciudad durante la guerra es, como bien dice Antonio J.Mazón en su libro Vistas desde el Puente de Rusia: la segunda República y la Guerra Civil en Orihuela : “la ciudad de derechas y católica que fue retaguardia republicana durante la guerra civil”. He querido recoger el testimonio de aquellas personas que vivieron la guerra desde las partidas rurales, olvidadas muchas veces en las investigaciones históricas locales. Fue la huerta de Orihuela la que abasteció de productos a la mayoría de ciudades de retaguardia republicana. Los protagonistas que aparecen a continuación, entre otras cosas cuentan cómo fue la guerra fuera del núcleo urbano, cómo sintieron la lucha de jornaleros contra caciques y la furia de vecinos contra vecinos. Si algo destaco de esta investigación es la sorpresa de ver cómo cada uno de ellos cuenta la historia a su manera y el cosquilleo que sentí yo cuando todas esas historias se entrelazan entre sí. This research covers the period between 1936 and 1945: the Civil War and the postwar period. The uniqueness that characterizes this city during the war is, as Antonio J. Mazon says in his book: Views from the Russian Bridge: the Second Republic and the Civil War in Orihuela : "the right-wing and Catholic city that was a republican rearguard during the civil war." I have wanted to collect the testimony of those people who lived through the war from rural areas, often forgotten in local historical research. It was the Orihuela garden that supplied products to the majority of the Republican rearguard cities. The protagonists that appear below, among other things, tell how the war was outside the urban nucleus, how they felt the struggle of day laborers against caciques and the fury of neighbors against neighbors. If there is something that stands out from this research, it is the surprise of seeing how each one of them tells the story in their own way and the tingling that I felt when all those stories intertwine with each other.
