Longitudinal analysis of the gender gap in university academic
performance across different disciplinary contexts.

Título : Longitudinal analysis of the gender gap in university academic
performance across different disciplinary contexts.
Autor : Vaca Lamata, Marta; Serrano Segarra, María
Resumen : This study presents a longitudinal analysis of the relationship between gender and academic
performance across four university degree programmes: Double Degree in Law and Business
Administration and Management, Bachelor's Degree in Law, Bachelor's Degree in Business
Administration and Management, and Bachelor's Degree in Business Statistics, examining two
representative subjects from contrasting disciplinary approaches: Business Financial Analysis,
characterized by an applied and quantitative nature, and Commercial Law, oriented towards conceptual
and normative frameworks. Drawing on academic grades from the 2018-2019 to 2024-2025 academic
years across both ordinary and extraordinary examination sessions, this investigation examines how
the gender variable operates and its relationship with degree programme, subject matter, and
examination session. The analysis employs statistical methods including analysis of variance,
regression analysis, the Kruskal-Wallis test, and the Chi-square test. The findings demonstrate a
significant influence of gender on academic performance, confirming that observed gaps are not uniform
but vary according to disciplinary context and examination session, revealing differentiated patterns of
performance and academic motivation. The contrast between subjects with distinct epistemological
profiles offers a particularly relevant perspective for understanding how the nature of disciplinary content
and examination conditions influence gender differences and academic outcomes.

Evaluation of the environmental commitment of all large and medium-sized Spanish wineries based on objective information from their websites

Título : Evaluation of the environmental commitment of all large and medium-sized Spanish wineries based on objective information from their websites
Autor : Agulló-Torres, Asunción; Del Campo-Gomis, Francisco-José; López-Lluch, David-Bernardo; Arias-Navarro, Irene
Resumen : In the contemporary era, organisations have embraced the internet as a platform through which they dissemi-
nate information about their economic activities and their corporate social responsibility, including their environmental

responsibility. Consequently, the extent to which an organisation's actions are visible on its website can be taken as an in-
dicator of its commitment to environmental issues. The present article proposes a model for evaluating the environmen-
tal commitment of agri-food companies through the visibility of objective information on their environmental actions

on their websites. The information is presented in tabular form, consisting of 33 items, and the combination of these with
a predetermined weight gives an index called the Environmental Commitment Web Index (ECWI). The model was applied

to all large and medium-sized Spanish wineries in 2018 and 2024. The findings indicate an improvement in the environ-
mental commitment of these wineries, as reflected by the doubling of the ECWI during this period from 9.8 points in 2018

to 20.2 points in 2024. Nonetheless, the overwhelming majority of these wineries were regarded as exhibiting a 'very poor'
environmental commitment: 94.2% in 2018 and 81.4% in 2024. It is concluded that all large and medium-sized Spanish
wineries should undertake sustained endeavours to disseminate environmental initiatives on their websites.

Longitudinal evidence of functional conversion in a silent corticotroph PitNET

Título : Longitudinal evidence of functional conversion in a silent corticotroph PitNET
Autor : Rodríguez-Bedoya, M.; Navarro-Calvo, J.; Sottile, J.; Niveiro de Jaime, M.; Torregrosa, ME; Serrano-Gotarredona, J.; Picó, A.
Resumen : Silent corticotroph pituitary neuroendocrine tumours lack clinical hypercortisolism but are associated with an increased risk of invasion and recurrence. Functional conversion to Cushing’s disease remains poorly understood. We report a man with a clinically silent corticotroph PitNET who remained non-functioning for eight years before developing hypercortisolism, followed by recurrent and aggressive disease requiring multimodal therapy. Serial pathology revealed phenotypic remodelling from a sparsely granulated corticotroph tumour to later lesions with foci suggestive of denser granulation and increased proliferative activity. Paired RT-qPCR analysis of fresh tissue showed upregulation of POMC and PCSK1, together with increased EGFR and SSTR3/SSTR5, whereas TBX19, GATA2, PCSK2 and AVPR1B were downregulated, and glucocorticoid receptor pathway transcripts (NR3C1, FKBP5) remained relatively preserved. Marked downregulation of CABLES1 accompanied the aggressive stage. These findings support selective activation of ACTH biosynthesis and processing during functional conversion and suggest that aggressive progression may involve partially distinct biological mechanisms.

Why Should Athletes Brake Fast? Influence of Eccentric Velocity on Concentric Performance During Countermovement Jumps at Different Loads

Título : Why Should Athletes Brake Fast? Influence of Eccentric Velocity on Concentric Performance During Countermovement Jumps at Different Loads
Autor : Hernández-Davó, José L.; Sabido-Solana, Rafael; Omar-García, Manuel; Boullosa, Daniel
Resumen : Purpose: The aim of the present study was to analyze the effect of different eccentric tempos on eccentric kinetics and kinematics
and the subsequent concentric performance when performing countermovement jumps against different loads. Methods: After
1-repetition-maximum assessment and 2 familiarization sessions, 13 well-trained participants performed, in randomized order,
12 sets (4 tempos × 3 loads) of 4 repetitions of the loaded countermovement-jump exercise. The eccentric tempos analyzed were 5
and 2 seconds, as fast as possible, and accelerated (ie, without pause between repetitions), while the loads used were 30%, 50%,
and 70% of 1-repetition maximum. Several kinetic and kinematic variables during both phases were recorded by linking a linear
position transducer to the barbell. Results: The eccentric work was greater in the accelerated condition despite no changes in the
eccentric depth. The peak and mean propulsive velocities were greater in the as-fast-as-possible and accelerated conditions.
Correlation analysis showed that, compared with the 5-second condition, the increased concentric performance in the accelerated
condition was related to the difference in eccentric work performed in the last 100 milliseconds of the eccentric phase (r > .770).
Conclusions: Contrary to current practices, the current study highlights the need for performing the eccentric phase of loaded
countermovement jumps, a common exercise performed by athletes for both training and evaluation purposes, as fast as possible.
This allows not only a greater eccentric work but also improved concentric performance.
