Autor : Vaca Lamata, Marta; Serrano Segarra, María Resumen : This study presents a longitudinal analysis of the relationship between gender and academic performance across four university degree programmes: Double Degree in Law and Business Administration and Management, Bachelor's Degree in Law, Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, and Bachelor's Degree in Business Statistics, examining two representative subjects from contrasting disciplinary approaches: Business Financial Analysis, characterized by an applied and quantitative nature, and Commercial Law, oriented towards conceptual and normative frameworks. Drawing on academic grades from the 2018-2019 to 2024-2025 academic years across both ordinary and extraordinary examination sessions, this investigation examines how the gender variable operates and its relationship with degree programme, subject matter, and examination session. The analysis employs statistical methods including analysis of variance, regression analysis, the Kruskal-Wallis test, and the Chi-square test. The findings demonstrate a significant influence of gender on academic performance, confirming that observed gaps are not uniform but vary according to disciplinary context and examination session, revealing differentiated patterns of performance and academic motivation. The contrast between subjects with distinct epistemological profiles offers a particularly relevant perspective for understanding how the nature of disciplinary content and examination conditions influence gender differences and academic outcomes.

Título : The attribution of empirical desert in complex contexts: an experimental criminal law approach to voluntary intoxication. Autor : Gómez-Bellvís, Ana Belén; Castro-Toledo, Francisco Javier; Valiente, Vicente; Falces, Carlos Resumen : One of the most controversial concepts among criminal law scholars is the actio libera in causa (alic), which refers to the possibility of establishing criminal culpability even if, at the time of the crime, the person was in a state of impaired culpability due to intoxication or mental disorder caused by their own responsible actions. However, the literature on the legal distribution of responsibility and punishment in such cases is sparse. This study uses a mixed factorial experimental design to test the concept of alic, with the primary objective of analyzing whether responsibility is assigned differently depending on whether the person intentionally or negligently placed themselves in a state of impaired culpability. Additionally, it examines whether the moral character of the individual who intentionally induces this state to commit a crime influences the perception of responsibility. The results show that while the sample does not consider the motives or moral character that led the individual to intentional intoxication, it does when the prior intoxication is negligent. Furthermore, the deservedness of punishment is perceived as highest in cases of intentional homicide, followed by negligent homicide, and lowest in cases with no homicide. These findings contribute to the ongoing debate regarding the intuitive nature of the alic attribution rule and the perceived fairness of punishment across different types of alic cases.
