El papel de las mujeres en el motociclismo

Abstract

El papel de la mujer en el mundo del deporte es un tema casi transparente en los medios de comunicación. Cuando para llevar a cabo estos deportes es esencial una potente máquina, la situación se complica. Una disciplina tan conocida como la velocidad se reduce casi a la nada cuando es practicada por una mujer. En cuanto al motocross, si ya es difícil que un piloto masculino sea noticia, se convierte en imposible recibir cualquier información sobre ellas. Actualmente, el motocross y la velocidad siguen siendo disciplinas practicadas mayoritariamente por hombres. Se conoce a grandes campeones que han hecho y siguen haciendo historia en las categorías reina de ambas modalidades pero ¿dónde están las mujeres en la historia del motor? La falta de información crea el desconocimiento de la mayoría de gente, llegándose a ignorar el campeonato de España o del mundo de motociclismo femenino.

The role of women in the sports world is almost an invisible topic in Spanish media. When a powerful machine is needed to practise it, the situation gets even more complicated. Such a well know discipline as motor sports is reduced to nothing when it is practised by a woman. Talking about motocross, if it’s difficult to see a male rider in the news, it’s impossible to get any information about the females. Nowadays, motocross and speed races are still disciplines practiced mainly by men. We know big champions who made and keep making history in the premier class of each modality but, where are the women in the history of motor? The lack of information makes most of the people unaware of the situation, up to the point to ignore that there isn’t a Spanish Women Championship or a World Women Championship.
