Abstract:
The media education aims to teach to all free, critical and independent individuals to reflect on the information they receive and explain them how the media works and how to use it. There is currently not any subject inside the primary and secondary education program in Spain for this purpose. Our study aims to learn the bases, techniques and models that are necessary to fill this gap. The main objective of the current research consists of studying the work processes for audio-visual literacy. How to get the students to know what are the tools which are necessary for them to be critical with the messages that they receive. How to develop the reflection, understanding and debate in order to create their own expertise and founded knowledge so that they become active in part of the process of generating information. To this end the research is based on three premises: a scholarship for an extracurricular practices in the "Aula Urbana" which is an initiative of the service of communication of the University Miguel Hernández in Elche where their students offer workshops in some non-university centers, including „Entre Micros‟ which introduce the participants to know how a radio program works and create their own. The communication is an essential part of the human being. Understanding the communication helps us to have a better vision and knowledge of the society we live in. For this reason it is interesting that there is an ongoing dialogue, a common thread between the information providers and the society.
