dc.description.abstract“Ageism” or the age discrimination is a subject that concerns people in societies who grow old. Some experts point out that intergenerational programs establish new channels of communication, they increase knowledge about old age and have influence in the overcoming of stereotypes and negative attitudes toward ageing (Pinazo et al., 2016; Gutheil et al., 2006). The aim of this research is to describe the knowledge and the attitudes toward ageing of the university volunteers before and after participating in a formative and intervention program of the UMH with elderly people who live alone. Knowledge and attitudes toward ageing were evaluated through the FAQ scale (Fact on Ageing Quiz) which was developed by Palomre (1997) and adapted to Spanish by Villar & Triadó (2000). The results obtained indicate that there is a group tendency to produce moderate answers and to decrease negative attitudes toward ageing after participating in the program. In addition to this, it was verified that the scale FAQ was not suitable to measure all knowledge learned due to the program Acompaña-Té of Sabiex.es
