Introduction: Currently, soccer is considered the most popular sport in the world, where sports injury records are considerably high. In the treatment of sports injuries, the role of the physiotherapist intervenes as a professional in charge of the treatment, recovery and prevention of injuries, from the identification of the problem, approach to the solution, intervention, rehabilitation and maximization of the quality of life of the athlete.
Objectives: To determine the efficacy of physiotherapy techniques in the prevention of major soccer injuries.
Methodology: A bibliographic review was carried out in 3 databases. Of the total articles found, after analyzing the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 9 articles were included. Its methodological quality was evaluated with the “PEDro scale”.
Results: the articles analyzed show the efficiency of the role of the physiotherapist in the prevention of injuries from the application of preventive training focused on the acquisition of agility, resistance, strength, stability, and the development of proprioception exercises that positively influence the neuromuscular factors that generate adaptation to physiological and biomechanical environments
Conclusions: Physiotherapy has proven to be effective in preventing injuries in the field of professional soccer.
