Robert E. Howard y su influencia en el cine fantástico de los 80 en adelante

Abstract

El presente estudio investiga el grado de implicación de la obra del escritor americano Robert E. Howard en el auge del cine fantástico de 1980. Para comprobarlo se caracteriza al escritor, su obra y sus referentes, mediante un repaso por sus personajes enmarcados en la fantasía y evolución de estos en diferentes medios, un breve análisis de la filmografía basada en su obra y algunas obras que se hayan inspirado en sus personajes. Se produce una popularización de la literatura fantástica en los 60 encabezado por la publicación de El señor de los anillos y Conan entre otros, cuya consecuencia es un auge del cine fantástico en los 80, influenciado por el estreno Star wars. Hay que destacar la importancia del ilustrador Frank Frazetta en el éxito de su obra y sus adaptaciones

The present study research the degree of involvement of the American writer Robert E. Howard in the rise of fantastic cinema in 1980. To verify this, the writer, his work and his references are characterized by a review of his characters framed in fantasy and evolution of these in different media, a brief analysis of the filmography based on his work and some works that have been inspired by his characters. There is a popularization of fantasy literature in the 60s led by the publication of The Lord of the Rings and Conan among others. The outcome is a rise of fantasy films in the 80s, influenced by the Star Wars premiere. Frank Frazetta’s illustrations help shouldn't be underestimated in the success of his work and its adaptations
